Who's Who at Eltham Park

Minister: Rev'd Stephen Maunder

Stephen is the minister for Eltham Park Methodist Church, and for the Methodist Church in Lewisham.  He also has a wider role in supporting the other Methodist Churches in the area.   He joined Eltham Park in September 2011.

For most of my working life so far, I worked for Education Departments offering a service for children with special needs. The move into ministry took place in 1999, and although it was a significant change both for me and for our family, it was also a reasonably natural progression as I had been preaching and taking services since my early twenties.

Local Preacher: Garry Young

Garry Young regularly leads services in this and other Methodist churches in the area. He has been a local preacher since 1998, but this is not his job.

“I do it because I believe I have a very important role to play in proclaiming the Christian message of God’s love for all. In a practical sense, the Methodist church relies heavily on its local preachers as they lead about four out of every five church services. But their importance is much larger than this.
