Toddler Church 1st Birthday

On  10th  November this year  we celebrated the first birthday of Toddler Church, which started on 11th November 2009.  Some of the founder members were still there, plus several new babies and young children with their mums and carers.
We enjoyed coffee and toast as usual and a nice chat together while the children played with the toys, then we moved on to a relaxed act of worship centred around the joy of Abraham and Sarah at the birth of Jacob and around birthdays generally.

We made paper hats and paper ‘candles’ and blew out the real candles on the cake (several times! because everyone had to have a go) and we played with balloons and had a good time eating cakes. All the children posed for a photo and shouted out “Happy Birthday” or “cheese” or whatever they fancied!

It was a really happy occasion and a good start to a new term of Toddler Church which has gone from strength to strength and now seems to be a settled part of church life. We are currently sharing the Christmas stories and singing action songs with a Christmas theme.  Every week the children are making puppets of Mary and Joseph and the other characters to go in their own individual Christmas boxes, which they will take home at the end of term so each child will have a personal nativity scene.

We meet every Wednesday morning at any time after 9.30, and close some time after 11. The act of worship takes place at 10 o’clock.  All babies and children up to 4 are warmly welcomed with their mums or carers.
